Prometheus Anser ADA test results
Lab results, Humira, UC treatment options.
I recently took a Prometheus Anser ADA test to measure my Humira levels and to check for antibodies to Humira. This test was prescribed because my faecal calprotectin test in November came in very high, which was a sign of inflammation in the colon. The Prometheus test showed no antibodies to the drug and measured Humira concentrations around 14 meaning there is plenty of drug in my system. The fact that I am not in remission suggests that the drug is not effectively stopping my inflammation. My doctor has suggested that I stop taking Humira and consider new treatments like the immunosuppressant Azathioprine.
While it is depressing that another drug option is ineffective for suppressing my disease, this is another good sign that the SCDiet is the reason my symptoms are getting better! Before I start any new medications I want to test out the effectiveness of the diet alone. Obviously I would love to be free of all medications, and I think that this is a good opportunity to test these waters. The downsides are obvious, a return or worsening of symptoms and disease. The upsides are a greater control of the disease (or potentially a complete suppression of the disease) through diet management. At this point I will try the diet, wish me luck.
